DEAD SEXY

Northern Canadian Rock n Roll based out of the Northern Capital, Prince George, BC. Currently touring in support of their debut album “What’s With All the Questions,” the band crushes audiences with a powerful, refreshing wall of electric sound.

NO BIG D

No big d is an all female punk/garage rock/grunge band. Through their music, they turn the trials of daily life into anthems of empowerment and defiance. No big d hopes to ignite that tiny fire that lives within all of us, that fuels persistence and determination to keep going and growing.

THE MILLTOWN PHILOSOPHERS

The Milltown Philosophers are a newgrass band from Quesnel, BC, blending bluegrass and country with rich harmonies and driving rhythms. Their 2024 debut album earned international airplay, with two songs reaching the top 10 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, and the band receiving two BC Country Music Award nominations.

TALEL MCBRIAR

Talel Mcbriar merges traditional folk with alternative rock influences. Backed by haunting melodies and a distinctive voice, Talel’s songs offer lyrically rich observations about the world within and around her. Currently, Talel and her band are working on her much anticipated debut full-length album scheduled for release in 2026.

THE HILLBETTYS

The Hillbettys are an old-timey/Americana/Folk/Country all-momma three-piece of scrubbin’, strummin and plucking babes. Performing both originals and classic old-timey covers on guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin and washboard, the HILLBETTYS can change a baby’s butt, fix a snack, bake a pie, steal your boyfriend (and your girlfriend!) and sing a three-part harmony faster than you can say “Big Rock Candy Mountain”  

AMY BLANDING

Amy Blanding is a queer, disabled musician who is unapologetically creating music that needs to be heard. Known for her profound songwriting, powerful voice, and electric stage presence, Amy’s original protest folk music seamlessly bridges the gap between audience, artist, and advocacy toward a greater possibility for the collective.

BATS & DAO

Bats & Dao (Brent Morton and Ciel Patenaude) weave esoteric folk-pop compositions built on dual guitars and rich harmonies. Creating music together for 11 years, the duo released “Reasons & Fables” in 2020, and their newest album, “Who Are You Now”, produced by Brandon Hoffman, continues their exploration of the magic of relationships and being in the world.

IDLE MOON

Idle Moon is a British Columbia based four-piece instrumental band whose songs feature well crafted, soulful grooves that range from the hard hitting to the melancholy. Heavily influenced by artists like The Meters, Mulatu Astatke and Fela Kuti, Idle Moon deftly weaves the traditional with the new, creating a sound all their own.

MIKE LYNCH

Mike Lynch is a Canadiana, country music artist from Niagara, Ontario. His brand of traditional country music is as real, honest, and authentic as it comes! His gritty, heartfelt songwriting will have you feeling things in that deep cavern of your soul and will make you either laugh or cry.

MISTY RAINE

The indigenous lead rock band “Misty Raine” hails from Nadleh Whut’en. Driven punk, grunge, and metal inspired tunes convey their experiences addressing themes of trauma, loss, addiction, cultural identity, and spirituality. The band is Trevor Ketlo (guitar), Maya Hildebrand (bass), Kenny Jacobs (drums), Jack Peters (keys), and Misty Raine herself on vocals.

PARLOUR PANTHER

Parlour Panther is a nonbinary-led indie rock band from Vancouver known for lush harmonies, groovy riffs, and spacey synths. Their 2024 album BLOOM earned praise from Exclaim!, CBC, and Range. Exclaim! said it “boasts a vibrant mix of blues-inflected vocals, playful synths and an energetic low-end…” BLOOM is out now.

THE SCREECH OWLS

The Screech Owls transcend traditional adjective-based biographies with their hypocritical songwriting and sycophantic harmonies. Known for their erudite arrangements and anachronistic guitar work, TSO achieves ebulliated new heights. In a world of cartographical melody, these apocryphal gentlemen pursue nothing less than hyperventilated excellence, while regularly being described as lackadaisical, discombobulated, effervescent, and capitulating.

RHODODENDRON

In these uncertain and tumultuous times people look to music and love to ground them. Look no further than Rhododendron. Troy, Dave and Will are three Cariboo old timers who know what rock and roll is all about. Back for their second Arts on the Fly performance, they are stoked!

10 DAY NOTICE

Formed in the nascence of the pandemic, in the heart of the Cariboo, British Columbia, 10 DAY NOTICE was conceptualized by advocates Leah Martin (piano/vocals) and Matthew Granlund (guitar/vocals) as a means of catharsis. Cariboo boy, Dylan Croy, joins them on drums. 10 DAY NOTICE are an energetic post-punk garage rock sound that aims to motivate. Their songs are about everything and nothing, personal politics to social justice.  The stage is their platform.

ZONNIS & THE AFTERPARTY

Soul, Funk, Twang, and Psychedelic Rock Harnessing big band energy that brings on the funk and turns up the twang, Zonnis & The Afterpartyt blends a unique fusion of soul, funk, twang, country, and psychedelic rock with an energy that’s nothing short of electrifying.

RED HAVEN

Red Haven began in 2013, developing their Freak Folk and Raucous Jazz sound, which features a trio of distinct voices. Jen Charters, lightning-quick saxophone and powerful blues vocals; Nathan Turner, laid-back grooves with soulful roots on the bass; and Brendan Steele, dark and angular guitar lines to match cutting lyrics.

IAN SKORSCHA

Ian Skorscha Is a nomad musician from Patagonia, Argentina; 10 years of touring from there to Canada lead him to become a troubadour with a personal sound. Nourished from Latin rhythms and Folk feels, Ian sings in Spanish but engages with his storytelling taking us on a journey through the America’s.

THE BEAVER VALLEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Beaver Valley Symphony Orchestra formed in the early 2010s when a group of locals bonded over a shared love of music and reasonably priced red wine. A traditional band that has happily lost its way, the BVSO’s repertoire spans from jigs, reels and waltzes to Leonard Cohen and beyond.

HISTORY OF GUNPOWDER

History of Gunpowder is gritty, high energy and honestly, chaotic. They walk the haywire powered by growling blues vocals, expansive arrangements, and danceable funk rhythms. Based in Vancouver, this Freakout Orchestra boasts a powerhouse horn section, violin, and pedal steel making every show a circus.

BRIAN & RICK

Brian Sawyer (guitar/vox) and Rick Matthews (harmonica) have been playing music together for over 20 years. They last played Arts On The Fly with the Hot Buttered Blues Band about 15 years ago.

COASTAL DRIFTERS

Second generation band of Terrace BC legends “Grey Wolf” Coastal Drifters blends music influences of Garage Rock, Indie and Blues. Forming a genre of their own coined Rez Rock. From Kitselas I.R #1 Gitaus. These fellas wear their hearts on the sleeve performing a high energy show with mixes of deep rooted emotion and raw energy. Tie up them boots and be ready to groove as they hit hard and fast before you know it you’ll be ready for the next show.

DANIEL LAPP

Daniel learned his first fiddle tune from his farming grandfather and continued to learn the old-time fiddle style through his youth. An experienced player now, he continues to compose, teach, perform and tour internationally. This year Daniel launched Woodbox Records – a label dedicated to preserving and promoting BC Fiddle music.

DAVID ROY PARSONS

David has been writing songs since he was in his twenties. He is hoping to attain his National Life Guard certification this summer so that he can called a Swimmer/Songwriter. David has toured Canada coast to coast, though this is his first gig in years, it is far from the last!

MARCEL GAGNON

A member of the Lheidli T’enneh Band, Gagnon was involved in music from his youth, playing dances, weddings and private functions, as well as for radio shows in Alberta and British Columbia.  His breakthrough album Crazy Maker was nominated for a Juno Award. He is still touring and playing today.

D9 STRINGBAND

A band of longtime friends and musical collaborators who have spent much of their lives playing and listening to old time stringband music. D9 Stringband is Grace Forrest on fiddle, Jason Romero on banjo, Pharis Romero on guitar and Max Malone on dance calling (and bass).

JP MAX & CO

Pharis and Jason Romero have steadily cultivating a devoted following in the folk genre; they are recipients of four Juno awards and seven Canadian Folk Music Awards. Cole Patenaude is the foundational guitarist and songwriter for the Screech Owls. Max Malone is the deeply grounded bass player and singer for the Lonesome Ace Stringband among many other acts. All four musicians proudly call the vibrant community of Horsefly their home and are thrilled to be performing at Arts on the Fly with their brand new super secret special band. 

SHANNON O’DONOVAN’S VALLEY FOLK

Shannon O’Donovan’s Valley Folk is a folk music collective rooted in timeless storytelling covering traditional folk with modern country influences. Based in Beaver Valley they came together over bonfire jams and porch sessions. Their sound is warm and filled with acoustic textures and lyrics that explore love, loss, nature, and the passage of time.
