Who is behind Arts on the Fly?

Our Origins

The original Arts on the Fly members were Chanti Holtl, Cindy Isaac, Klara Henz, Dina Stephenson, Dora Gasser, Carmen Mutschele, Taina Sipponen, Christina Mary, and Corinne Stromsten.

Arts on the Fly began as a typical small town 'everyone knows everyone else's business' scenario. A couple of friends would run into each other at a local Horsefly hotspot and share their visions of an event which would both promote tourism in the area and fulfill their zeal for All Things Creative. Through similar conversations with other locals a common thread was woven, and a meeting was called.

Arts on the Fly went under the umbrella of the William's Lake Arts Council in order to connect with a well-established non-profit organization, for networking purposes and to share their non-profit status. Fundraisers consisted of coffeehouse events, phone calls and handouts of the 'beggar letter'. Their cause was advertised on CBC radio as well as a local station, in the newspaper and on television. With the support of caring volunteers, a large stage was constructed.

This year will mark our fifth annual festival.
